Dear FILIPINOS,

Hello everyone ! I am Maxine, the tarsier of the forest. Most of you have seen me in Bohol but there’s one thing you must know….. that we are endangered. People hunt us. They destroy our own habitats. Let me tell you something… everytime you take pictures of us in the park, it destructs us. We are like bats because we are asleep in the morning and we are awake in the night. Please know how to love us like humans… Please care about us. I hope we still have a place in this world… We all hope you can understand how hard our situation is… :’(

Dear everyone,

Hi ! I am KINGFISHER in the forest that you’ve been destroying. You’re trying to destroy our home, Please have mercy on us because we are just like you. We have our own family but when our home is destroyed, where are we going to live? Just like all of you, when your own house is destroyed, you have no choice but to sleep in the streets. PLEASE stop cutting TREES and stop destroyingour houses.

Dear President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III,

One of the major problems in our environment here in the Philippines is the fish kill. Recently, there was a fish kill that happened in Taal Lake. The ECOLOGICAL COLLAPSE is the main cause why it happened. Because of the overpopulation of the fishes, there was a competition in getting their needs especially the food they eat. There was no more place to live in and space for other fishes. One of the causes is also the introduction of kind of species that are not native in Taal Lake.

One of the solutions that we think that can be effective is joining in projects that aims to take care of the lake and the fishes. We also think that making posters, using the internet (facebook, tumblr, twitter etc.), cellphone devices (by texting) will also encourage people. I hope people will not throw garbages in the lake because it can also cause the death of the fishes.

Another thing that we are worried about is the devastation brought by the floods. And the number one cause is the illegal logging of the trees. Please help us to encourage people to do the selective logging. People must just choose the old ones and replace into a new one. We all know that trees are very important because this is where we get our primary needs.

The decreasing number of geckos is also a problem in our ecosystem. People trade them which is illegal. Geckos also have an important role in the ecosystem. They control the population of insects by eating them. We believe that having projects and activities will help.

I hope that you can help us Mr. President. We can all be a leader-a leader that can make a change.

1. Reduce - This means to lessen the use of items. Even conserving water and energy or electricity helps in saving the environment.

2. Reuse - This is the reintroduction and recovery of waste materials. In other words, using items again instead of throwing them which may cause global warming.

3. Recycle - Recycling is also one of the first things that we should do. Let all us be creative in our own different ways. Let’s think of something new just like turning used juice packs into bags, old items into umbrellas and so much more! Isn’t it unbelievable?

4. Replace - Aside from planting trees,we should also use ECO-friendly materials/items instead of using items that help in polluting the environment.

5. This the easiest thing that we can do… CLEAN our surroundings. Let’s first start cleaning at home. CLEANING or surroundings must be put into practice.

And I loved it so

Flowers also have an important role in our environment. First of all, they help in the process of pollination of flowers. They suck nectar. A flower’s niche will also be when there is abundant sunlight and healthy soil . Other flowers that can be eaten also serves as food for herbivores. Last, it gives beauty and color to our surroundings.

God has given us all his creations for us to be enjoyed and be taken care of. We are the stewards or leaders in taking care of our environment.The question is,is it important to study about the environment?

Let’s take a look on what happened in the past. Do you still remember the earthquake in Japan and the floods and landslides because of typhoon Ondoy and Sendong? All of these gives an idea on why we must study about the environment.Simply,we are also part of it.

The reason is to know the ways on how to take care of our environment and how to prevent happenings like what happened in the past.

A variety of environmental problems now affect the entire world. As globalization continues and the earth’s natural processes transform local problems into international issues, few societies are being left untouched by major environmental problems.

We are integrally linked with all living things on our planet. However, recent events show our day-today existence severely impacts the biosphere that we share with all other organisms.
